Recent updates
April: We're working on clearing out the bulk of the books currently in the stacks so that… we can get more books! Folks are still welcome to come visit the stacks by appointment, but many of the books will be packed away for a bit.
It's been an intense — and very successful — first quarter! For the second quarter, we're focusing on streamlining our processes and starting a volunteer base. Here's what we accomplished in the first quarter of 2026. (The school-library gift certificates are being distributed throughout April.)

Gave away 700 books at our open-stacks event — We opened the stacks to the public after the March pop-up flea market got rained out.
Mar 2026
Gave away 1,000 books at the Triangle Works pop-up flea market — In El Sobrante.
Q1 2026
Rehomed about 2,000 more books across the community — To Friends of the Library groups (El Sobrante, Benicia, Martinez, Pinole, Hercules, San Lorenzo), the Prisoners Literature Project, the Muslim Community Center, Jefferson Elementary School, Indivisible East Bay, the Society for Creative Anachronism, folks with Little Free Libraries, senior centers and skilled nursing facilities, and individuals who just want free books.

Generated $1,000 in Pegasus Books gift certificates for school libraries

Received $350 in cash donations, and generated another $250 — To be turned into online gift certificates for school libraries.

Built 60 linear feet of floor-to-ceiling shelving — Three shelves tall and two feet deep, sturdy enough for multiple people to climb on at once.
